Tom Ward, from Butler, Pennsylvania, graduated from WNMU with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education in 1964. Then in 1968, Ward graduated with a Master of Arts in Physical Education and Safety with a minor in Biology and Business Administration.
During Ward’s freshman year, he lettered in three sports. Overall, Ward lettered in football one year, baseball three years, and basketball four years.
In the 1962-1963 basketball season, Ward was the team’s free throw percentage leader with 69.7 percent. As a senior on the basketball team, Ward was the team’s leading scorer with 337 points. Ward finished his basketball career with a total of 1,030 points scored.
Also in 1962, the Mustang baseball team posted an 18-4 record. As a pinch hitter, Ward had 16 hits at 18 at bats for a .888 batting average.
Ward was a 1964 Who’s Who and was awarded the Athletic-Scholarship Award for seniors. He was also a member of the “W” Club for four years.
