Ed Harter was captain of the men’s basketball team his junior and senior year and won All-Conference and All-District honors.

After graduating from WMNU, he returned to Indiana to coach at Fairland High School. In 1955, he came back to New Mexico to coach at New Mexico Military Institute. A few years later he then moved to Ohio.

After a stint at the University of New Mexico, Harter coached basketball, baseball, football and was an athletic trainer in his 28-year career at Dakota State University.

He was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame of the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference and has been honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
