Member of the 1939-1940 Basketball Team

Charles E. Blackman, from Stover, Missouri, attended STC from 1939-1940 and lettered in basketball.

In 1942, while attending CMSU in Warrensburg, Missouri, he entered the US Naval reserve.  While in the military, Blackman served with the Navy as a US reserve fighter pilot on the USS Santee and Belleau Wood and later as an instructor.  He received eight air medals, two distinguished flying crosses, and two presidential citations.

In 1948, he earned his master's in education from the University of Missouri.  For 17 years, Blackman taught industrial arts, chemistry, physics, and diversified arts at the Fredricktown High School in Missouri.

In 1959, he was awarded Outstanding Citizen by VFW Post 4320 of Fredricktown. 

He served as the supervisor of Guidance Services for 13 years with the Missouri Department of Education in Jefferson City from 1965 to 1978.  He was recognized in 1972 by the Missouri Guidance Association for his years of dedicated service as counselor and State guidance supervisor.  The Missouri Vocational Association also honored him for his outstanding service.

In 1948, he married Mary Zaring.  They have two children, Pamela Keilholz and John E. Blackman, and three grandsons.  Mary and Charles reside in Warsaw, Missouri.
