Rodney Smith of Aurora, Colorado was originally from Carlsbad and earned a degree in business administration. Smith lettered four years in baseball, was named a First Team All-American in 1985 and All-Conference for two years. He holds numerous WNMU and conference records.

“I have many memories of playing at Western, but what really stands out the most to me is the camaraderie I had with many of my teammates, many of whom I still have close friendships with today,” Smith said. “One of my greatest memories is meeting my wife of 15 years Catrina, who is an alumna of WNMU.”

The Smiths have three children, Rozlyn, Kaytlyn, and Jerod.
