Tom Gable, from Connersville, Indiana came to Silver City in 1947 and graduated from WNMU in 1951.

Gable lettered in basketball and tennis and was also captain of both teams. In basketball, Gable was a starter for three years and All-Conference two years in a row. Gable also won the Nelson Weigant Award for shooting free throws. He was also voted top defensive player his junior and senior years and played with other WNMU Hall of Fames like Dick King, Bob Macy, Ed Hater, and Mike Haynes.
