Tiffany Thomas-Vasquez came to Western New Mexico University and played under Dexter Irvin for three years (1988-1991). Coach Irvin describes Tiffany as “a very skilled, defensive-minded, and successful player with a will to win.”

During her first year at WNMU, the Lady Mustangs won the Rocky Mountain Conference Championship. That season, she averaged 17.2 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, and shot a little under 50% from the field for the season. Thomas-Vasquez was All-District NAIA her junior season and helped lead WNMU to the national tournament where they lost in the regional finals.

During her senior year, Tiffany averaged 20.4 points per game and was honored as the All-District Most Valuable Player. She also earned All-American honors, being the first women’s basketball player at WNMU to earn this honor.

Thomas-Vasquez graduated from WNMU in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education.

Thomas-Vasquez is married to Rick Vasquez and has two children and currently resides in Moreno Valley, California.
