Dupont, Wash. – Western New Mexico University's men's team head up to Dupont, WA, playing in the St. Martin's Invitational. After two rounds Monday, the Mustangs sit in 3rd place out of 11 teams.
Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) is 1-under and T-3rd after carding a 72 and 71. Sam Ruston (Birmingham, ENG/Chase Terrace Technology) is T-5th and is just a stroke and even on the day after shooting a 70 and a 74.
Harry O'Callaghan (Leeds, ENG/Priesthorpe HS) and Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary ) are T-30th, being 7-over. O' Callaghan carded a 77 in the first round and a 74 to end the day. Niles was pretty consistent shooting a 76 in the first round and a 75 in the second round. Lucas Hechler (Playa Del Carmen, MEX/Greg Norman Academy) is T-46, carding a 75 and an 80.
The Mustangs were are leading the field in total pars with 123. Par 3's, not so much, as they are 13-over. WNMU is also in second averaging 4.08 on par 4's.
CSU-Pueblo leads the field by 14 strokes (573) and St. Martins University is just ahead of WNMU by three strokes (584).
The Mustangs will continue round three Tuesday morning, looking to continue to climb in the standings.
