SILVER CITY, N.M. — Western New Mexico University Athletics and Head Athletic Trainer Terra Dunlap have welcomed Baylee Brown, Connie Olivas and Brooke Weisenberger to the Mustang family as the department's newest Associate Athletic Trainers.

"We are so excited to add Baylee, Connie and Brooke to the Mustang Family," said Head Athletic Trainer Terra Dunlap. "Our student athletes will benefit from having four athletic trainers to work with this next year. I think there will be noticeable differences in how our student athletes are taken care of. They each have unique backgrounds and experiences to draw from that will help them excel at WNMU."

A native of Anderson, California, Brown brings a diverse background in athletic training and sports medicine to Silver City. During her clinical education, she completed rotations at Clovis High School, Clovis West High School, Clovis Community College, Fresno Pacific University and with Fresno State Football. She also completed an immersive athletic training experience with the University of Georgia Football program.

Brown earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Chico, before earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from California State University, Fresno in May 2026. Her experience includes working with hockey, cross country, track and field, swimming and diving, soccer, women's basketball and football.

"I'm excited to become part of a close-knit athletic department where I can build meaningful relationships with student-athletes and coaches," Brown said. "I look forward to helping athletes stay healthy, recover from injuries and perform at their best while contributing to a positive and supportive environment."

Olivas, a native of El Paso, Texas, joins the Mustangs with experience working with NCAA Division I student-athletes and a strong foundation in collegiate sports medicine. She gained experience with UTEP Sports Medicine while pursuing her bachelor's degree and with New Mexico State University Sports Medicine during her master's program. She also completed a three-month immersive experience with Texas State Football.

Olivas earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at El Paso before earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from New Mexico State University. Her experience includes working with football, track and field, cheerleading, women's soccer, softball and men's basketball.

"I'm excited to begin my career at WNMU and become part of the Mustang family," Olivas said. "I've really enjoyed getting to know the community here in Silver City. I'm looking forward to building relationships with our student-athletes, coaches and fans, and doing my part to help our programs succeed."

Weisenberger returns to WNMU after spending the 2025-26 academic year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She previously served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at WNMU from 2023-25.

A certified and licensed athletic trainer with four years of experience, Weisenberger has worked with NCAA Division I and Division II programs across multiple sports, including softball, basketball, football, volleyball and hockey. She began her professional career as an athletic training intern at North Dakota State University from 2022-23.

A native of Underwood, North Dakota, Weisenberger earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2021 and her master's degree in Athletic Training in 2022, both from North Dakota State University.

"I am looking forward to being able to work in an amazing learning environment and to get to work with some amazing people," Weisenberger said. "I want our athletes to feel comfortable coming to me with both physical and mental challenges and to help them get the support they need to return to the court or field as quickly and safely as possible."

With the addition of Brown and Olivas and the return of Weisenberger, WNMU Athletics enters the upcoming year with an athletic training staff bringing experience from across multiple levels of collegiate competition and a wide range of sports. Together, the trio will help support the health, safety, well-being and success of Mustang student-athletes throughout the 2026-27 season.
