Alumni Spotlight: Jazmyne Walker - From Mustangs Volleyball to the International Stage

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Walker graduated from Legacy High School in 2020. She played varsity volleyball all four years, earning All-Region Second Team honors as a freshman in 2016. From 2017 through 2019, she was named All-Region First Team, and in 2019 she also earned All-Southern Nevada Second Team honors and was named Athlete of the Month.
Walker also competed at the College of Southern Nevada in 2020, where she appeared in 28 sets and finished with 102 kills, a .140 hitting percentage, 51 digs, and eight blocks. She was named All-Conference First Team and recorded a season-high 22 kills and 11 digs against Utah State Eastern.

Before becoming a Mustang, Walker competed at Central State University during the 2021 season, appearing in 30 matches and playing 104 sets. She recorded 412 kills, hit .223, added 261 digs, and totaled 36 blocks. One of her best performances came against Lane University on October 23, when she recorded 28 kills and four aces. That standout season earned her SIAC All-Conference First Team honors, along with Female Athlete of the Year and Most Valuable Player recognition.

Jazmyne Walker made a lasting impact on the Mustang volleyball program through her production, leadership, and consistency on the court. During the 2023 season, Walker appeared in 29 matches and played in 100 sets, leading the Mustangs with 336 kills while also recording eight assists, 208 digs, and 37 blocks. Her offensive presence helped make her one of the team's most reliable contributors.

In 2022, Walker appeared in 28 matches and played in 96 sets. She once again led the Mustangs in kills with 310, while adding 12 assists, 259 digs, and 24 blocks. Across her time at WNMU, she established herself as a dependable and competitive athlete who could make an impact in multiple areas of the game.
Today, Walker is continuing her volleyball journey overseas, playing professionally for Fushë Kosova in Fushë Kosovë, Pristina, Kosovo. Her decision to pursue professional volleyball reflects the same courage and determination that defined her time as a Mustang.

"Every day here is a reminder that taking a chance on myself can open doors I never imagined," Walker said. "Chasing this dream meant stepping into the unknown, but I knew staying comfortable wasn't going to get me where I wanted to be."

Walker's journey from collegiate standout to professional athlete is also a point of pride for those who watched her grow at WNMU.
"After everything Jazmyne gave to WNMU as a player and an assistant coach, her decision to play professionally and chase a dream is admirable," Head Volleyball Coach Geno Frugoli said. "I couldn't be prouder of her for that decision, and she had a great first season."

Off the court, Walker majored in Nursing and has long-term aspirations of working as an ICU nurse. She also hopes to travel the world, a goal that now connects naturally with her professional volleyball career abroad. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, drawing, and painting. Family is also important to her, as she has three older siblings and two nephews.
From leading the Mustangs in kills to continuing her career internationally, Jazmyne Walker represents the drive, resilience, and ambition of a Mustang alumna still chasing bigger goals.
