San Antonio, Texas – The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team continued their 2025 spring season with a match against Our Lady of the Lake. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Mustangs fell 4-1.

In doubles play, the pair of
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and
Emma Lootens-Stael (Diksmuide, Belgium/French Touch Academy) were topped 6-4 by L. Popluharova and M. Wileman.
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio San Martin de Porres) won 6-2 against S. Gonzalez and M. Peters.
Gabriella Blumberg (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School) and
Jenna Kastell (Bonn, Germany/TC Rot-Weiß Troisdorf) rounded out doubles action with a 7-5 win over E. Laure and M. Mueller.
Singles proved to be more challenging for the Mustangs, as Our Lady of the Lake went on to win four of the matchups.
- No. 1: Andreea Arnautu was defeated by L. Popluharova, 0-6, 0-6
- No. 2: Ana Sofia Montero Villegas fell to M. Wileman, 1-6, 4-6
- No. 3: Caini Wang dropped her match to M. Peters, 4-6, 5-6
- No. 4: Gabriella Blumberg battled E. Laure but came up short, 4-6, 0-6
- No. 5: Jenna Kastell took on S. Gonzalez, 6-2, 3-6 (Unfinished)
- No. 6: Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Cet Alcala) faced off against M. Mueller, 5-6, 4-0 (Unfinished)

Singles: 1, 2, 4, 3, 5, 6
The Mustangs are going to be staying on the road for their next match against the University of Texas at Tyler, April 4
th, 2025. They will start at 8 AM MT.
