Tucson, Arizona - Track & Field continues its 2025 season in Tucson, Arizona. Attending a meet hosted by the University of Arizona, the Mustangs started day one of the 2025 Willie Williams Invite with Women's/Men's Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus for Field Events, and Women's/Men's 400 Meter Hurdles, 1500 Run, and 5000 Run. 
 
Field Events:
 
    On the Women's side, Trinity Rios (Silver City, NM/Cobre High School) threw for the Mustangs. Trinity Rios (Silver City, NM/Cobre High School) placed 25th with a farthest throw of 24.51m, just under her last throw at the Ross & Sharon Invite in San Diego, California.
 
    Daphne Clark (/) competed in the Shot Put for the Mustangs. Daphne Clark (/) threw a 10.28m placing 24th for the Mustangs. Daphne Clark (/) passed her record made in San Diego, hitting a new personal record (PR). 
 
    On the Men's side, George Peru (Silver City, NM/Cobre HS) & Michael Parker (El Paso, TX/Pebble Hills High School) threw for the Mustangs. George Peru (Silver City, NM/Cobre HS) placed 28th, with a throw of 48.61m exceeding his last throw in San Diego by 6 meters. Michael Parker (El Paso, TX/Pebble Hills High School) was next for the Mustangs as he placed 36th with a throw of 40.00m. He also beat his record of 38 meters in San Diego. 
 
 
Running Events:
 
    On the Women's side, Veronika Garcia (Tucson, AZ/Cienega High School) competed in the 400 400-meter hurdles, she placed 27th for the Mustangs with a time of 1:16.73. Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) competed in the 1500 Run, she placed 13th, with a time of 4:51.09. Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) created a new school record for the 1500 Run, great work for the Mustangs! In the 5K run by the Women, Vanessa Dominguez (Pecos, NM/Pecos High School) placed 19th for the Mustangs with a time of 19:09.04. Finishing off for the Women, McKenna Sahd (Angel Fire, NM/Cimarron High School) ran 19:59.04, placing 22nd for the Mustangs.
 
    For the Men, Malik Barrons competed in the 400 Meter Hurdles, he placed 31st with a time of 1:00.90. Noah Bugayong (Quemado, NM/Quemado HS) ran the 1500 Meter Run and placed 35th for the Mustangs with a time of 4:24.28. Moving into the 5K run, our last event of the day for the Mustangs. Jarred Baca (Las Vegas/West Las Vegas High School) finished first for the Mustangs, placing 7th overall with a time of 14:54.63. Behind him was Joshua Lara (Albuquerque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy High School), placing 13th with a time of 15:14.12. In the 5K, Samuel Ketcham (Goodyear, AZ/Canyon View High School) earned a new PR of 15:20.11, placing him in 15th place. Javier Garcia (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert High School) finished 17th in the 5K with a time of 15:26.55. To finish off, Cameron Shorty (Albuqurque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy High School) placed 33rd for the 5K with a time of 16:18.88.
 
The Mustangs will participate in day two of the 2025 Willie Williams Invite. On Saturday, March 22nd, the Mustangs will finish off their field events and move into their running events. The first event is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. MT (subject to change) at the Drachman Stadium. Live stats can be found with the link below!
