Pueblo, CO. — The Western New Mexico Women's Cross Country Team placed 19th in the NCAA South Central Regional Championship out of 26 teams, with
Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) leading the team by finishing 61st in the Women's 6K. Women's Cross Country competed at the Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, CO, finishing with a total of 557 points.
Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) led the team with a time of 22:43.5, securing 61st place, contributing significantly to the team's score.
Vanessa Dominguez (Pecos, NM/Pecos High School) followed with a time of 23:39.0 in 104th place, while Jeanette Rivera and
McKenna Sahd (Angel Fire, NM/Cimarron High School) finished in 127th and 128th places, respectively, with times of 24:35.7 and 24:37.9. This demonstrated a consistent performance among the top four runners for the Mustangs.
Sarah Romero (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland Sue HS) and
Isabella Medina (El Paso, TX/Americas High School) completed the scoring for the Mustangs, placing 137th and 152nd respectively with times of 24:51.6 and 26:01.1. The collective efforts of these athletes highlighted a balanced team performance, with Lozoya's finish standing out in the competitive field.
This ends the Cross Country season for the Lady Mustangs as they will look to prepare for the Track & Field season coming up in the spring.
