ODESSA, Texas - The Western New Mexico Women's Tennis Team began Lone Star Conference play with a match against the UTPB Falcons. The Falcons defeated the Mustangs 7-0.
In doubles, the No. 1 duo of 
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) and 
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) fell at the hands of Mattea Bowe and Brooke Runyan 2-6.  No. 2 paring 
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and 
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas () were taken down by Teodora Vrucan and Paige Bott 3-6. UTPB won the doubles point.
As for singles, No. 4 Montero was the first Mustang to fall at the racket of Bott 3-6, 2-6. Slotted in the No. 3 spot is Arnautu, she lost 2-6, 1-6 to Lisa Guitton. Playing No.5 was 
Gabriella Blumberg (), dropping her match to Bowe 4-6, 2-6.
Earning the No. 1 spot was Leite, as she took her opponent to three sets, before being taken down by Runyan 3-6, 6-2, 6-10. Li played No. 2 for the Mustangs today, losing a hard fought match to Vrucan, 4-6, 2-6.

Singles: 4, 3, 1, 2, 5
The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow for two matches against Ottawa (AZ) and Colorado-Mesa.
