Box Score LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Western New Mexico University Women's Tennis team made the quick trip to Las Cruces, N.M. for an exhibition matchup agaisnt the D1 Aggies of New Mexico State. After some thrilling matches, the Mustangs were defeated 7-0.
In doubles, the Mustangs No.1 duo of
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) lost a close battle 6-4, to Anna Pinaieva and Natsuki Nishimura. At No.2 spot for the Mustangs,
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas () lost at the hands of Lisa Zhu and Valeriia Ivanovskaia, 6-1.
The Mustang singles would be swept by the Aggies. At the No.1 spot was Leite. Leite fell 6-1, 6-0 to Pinaieva. Playing in the number No.2 spot was Li where she was taken down by Zhu 6-1, 6-0. Montero earned the No.3 spot against Ivanovskaia, where she lost 6-0, 6-1. The Mustangs No. 4 would be Arnautu going down at the racket of Whitney Moon 6-1, 6-0. No. 5
Gabriella Blumberg () fought to the end against Varvara Nikolaeva in a tough loss 6-2, 6-3.
WNMU will be back in action on February 3rd in Albuquerque, N.M. for battles against New Mexico and Colorado College.
