EL PASO, TEXAS- The Western New Mexico Women's Tennis team took a quick trip to El Paso, Texas for an exhibtion mathcup against Division One UTEP. The Mustangs fell 7-0.
In doubles, the Miners secured the point winning in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches first. No.1
Caini Wang (New Taipei City, Taiwan/Taipei Municipal Nangang Vocational High School) and
Ana Sofia Montero Villegas () fell 6-0 and No. 3
Andreea Arnautu (Laval, Quebec, Canada/College Laval) and
Gabriella Blumberg () lost 6-1. The Mustangs No. 2 duo of
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) and
Mann-Ning Li (Converse, TX/John H. Guyer HS) played hard but lost a close one, 6-4.
For singles, one Mustang managed to snag a set on the Miners. No. 3 Ning Li took her first set over opponent 6-3, but would drop the next two sets 6-0, 10-8 for the loss. The rest of the Mustangs results would follow in order of completion, No 6 Blumberg lost 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 Wang would loose 6-2, 6-1, No.
Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) fell 6-1, 6-3, No. 4 Montero dropped her match 6-4, 6-1 and Arnautu went down 6-3, 6-2.
The ladies next match up will be on January 25th in Las Cruces, NM against New Mexico State.
