Women's Tennis Finishes Fall With ITA Regional

DALLAS, TX – The Western New Mexico University women's tennis team played in ATA Regional at Dallas BaptistI University.

"Our girls showed the improvements we've made from last year," said Head Coach Alex Hunt

Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,) had a good A draw for a first round win. Mann-Ning pushed a top seed to three sets in a close loss in the A draw.

In doubles, the Mustangs performed well but  lacked execution in the right moments. Jenny Larson and Livia Leite (Cunha-SP, Brazil/Bernardino Querido,)  had match points in their doubles match against eventual semifinalists. A couple mistakes crept in and the match got away from them,l resulting in a loss.

Majority of our future practices will have an emphasis on focus from this point on," said Hunt. "Whenever we get these chances to push, and beat these top teams, we must be ready. WNMU Women's Tennis is moving forward...now it's time to execute."

The Mustangs will be back in the spring opening up against UTEP on January 20, 2023.
