Women's Tennis come short at homestand

Silver City, NM – The Mustangs finish their homestand at the WNMU Tennis Courts against the UT Permian Basin Falcons.

The morning started with the Mustangs taking on the Falcons in a difficult fight which eventually concluded with the Mustangs falling 3-4.

The match started with the Mustangs pairing up for duo matches. The first duo out of the court was Eva Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) and Xaviera Melgar (Tacna, Peru/Alexander Von Humboldt School), dropping their match 3-6. The second pair, Josefina Bailetti (Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Nuestra Señora del Huerto) and Nikoletta Pytel (Warsaw, Poland/Cosinus Lódz (Poland)), left the court grabbing victory with a 6-3. The last duo off the court was Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Les Complutense Alcala de Henares) and Sofija Krstic (Knjazevac, Serbia/Gymnasium 9th May) falling 4-6.

The Mustangs then continued in singles matches, with Pytel exiting the court first 0-6, 2-6. Carmena left the court second, taking with her the win 6-1, 6-3. This momentum was followed by Guta who also claimed the win with 6-3, 6-2. Bailetti left the court fourth, but after a hard fight fell 4-6, 4-6. Krstic was then able to pick up the fight, leaving the court fifth but taking with her the victory, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. The last Mustang to exit the court was Melgar who fought through three sets, but eventually fell 5-7, 6-1, 4-6.

This concludes the Mustangs' homestand with a fall 3-4.

The Mustangs will continue their homestand, facing off against the Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps tomorrow at the WNMU Tennis Courts at 09:00 AM.
