SILVER CITY, N.M. –  The Western New Mexico University men's golf team teed off Monday at beautiful The Dominion Country Club. After day one of the Rattler Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's University, the Mustangs find themselves in 10
th with 312 (+28) only playing 33 holes. Play will resume tomorrow morning due to darkness.
Sam Ruston (Birmingham, ENG/Chase Terrace Technology) leads the Mustangs with a 76 (-1) in round one and was 3-over playing 15 holes in round two.
Harry O'Callaghan (Leeds, ENG/Priesthorpe HS) is T-29
th individually, having a solid 76 (+1) in round one and is 5-over through 15 in round two.
Lucas Hechler (Playa Del Carmen, MEX/Greg Norman Academy) and
Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) are both T-48
th. Hechler, like many of the Mustangs had a strong first round shooting even, is struggling in the second round carding 10-over par (82). Geary shot 4-over in the first round and is currently 6-over par.
Concluding the WNMU golfers,
Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary ) is currently in 60
th after carding an 87 in the first round and is 15-over with three holes to go in the second round.
Round two will resume at 8:00am, Tuesday February 23
rd, and round three will follow, concluding the Rattler Invitational.
