Canyon, TX-- The Western New Mexico Mustangs put up 81 points on the road Thursday night, but were unable to get past a solid #7 West Texas A&M team.
Western jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, and forced West Texas to burn an early timeout less than a minute into the game. It would be all Buffs from that point in the half, and the Mustangs would go into halftime trailing by 23.
The second half was a different story as both teams were even in the scoring column. Western was unable to cut into the deficit, however, and the Buffs would take the 104-81 victory.
Eddie Giron (Monterrey, Mexico/Harmony Science Academy) and
Jordan Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Bel Air) led the Mustangs with 12 points apiece, and
Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) added 11.
Western will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they visit rival Eastern New Mexico for another Lone Star Conference game.
