Mustangs Fall to #13 West Texas

Silver City, N.M—The Mustangs kept it close throughout the first half, even taking a 21-19 lead on a Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) jumper. The lead didn't last long as the Buffs offense caught spark. Free throws by Tony Avalos (Las Cruces, NM/Onate) put a stop to the 11-0 run.
 
A layup by Leston Gordon (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago/Tunapuna Government Secondary) cut the WT lead to eight going into the half.
 
The second half was all WT. The Buffs took their largest lead at 70-49 and kept their distance for the rest of the game.
 
Jon-Reese Woodson (Corpus Christi, TX/Carroll) led the Mustang offense with 13 points. Willie McCray (Clovis, NM/Clovis/Westwind Prep Academy) and CJ Vanbeekum (Phoenix, AZ/Paradise) each added seven points of their own.
 
The Mustang men hit the road for two-games. First up is Cameron University on Jan. 10th at 6:30 p.m. followed by Angelo State on Jan. 12th at 3 p.m. both Mountain Standard Time.
