PUEBLO, Colo. – The road through the RMAC schedule won't get any easier this week for the Western New Mexico University football team as they travel to Pueblo to play No. 10 and defending national champion Colorado State University-Pueblo at 2 p.m.
The ThunderWolves are 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in RMAC play following a 20-10 win last week at home against Western State. Their one loss came at West Texas A&M (31-30). CSU-Pueblo averages 382 yards per game, with 255.3 coming on the ground. They average 30.3 points per game, while holding the opposition to 18.3 per contest and 291.6 yards per game.
Cameron McDondle has powered the rushing attack leading the conference in yards at 531 on 76 carries and also has five scores. His brother Bernard McDondle is second on the team with 182 yards on 29 attempts. Two quarterbacks have split time with AJ Thompson playing in all three games throwing for 169 yards, completing 11-of-19 passes. Malcolm Ruben played has seen action in two games throwing for 211 yards and a touchdown, completing 19-of-39 attempts. Kieren Duncan has caught seven passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. Cameron McDondle has four catches for 95 yards and Deontrae Cooper with seven grabs for 73 yards.
On defense, Morgan Fox has 21 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Kevin Cuff has also added 21 tackles and one sack.
Last year, CSU-Pueblo won 45-7 in Silver City, although the game was only 14-7 at the half.
Mitch Glasmann (Temecula, CA/Chaparral) threw for 167 yards and a touchdown, while
Marques Rodgers (Gardena, CA/Serra) tallied 32 yards on the ground.
Xavier Ayers (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque) caught three passes for 46 yards.
WNMU enters with the same 2-1 overall record and 1-0 mark in the RMAC following an exciting 38-37 victory over New Mexico Highlands this past Saturday. WNMU is averaging 43 points per game and allowing 32 points per contest. They are averaging 530.6 yards per game, with 368.3 coming through the air. The third quarter has been strong for the Mustangs outscoring opponents 49-13.
Rodgers has rushed for 432 yards on 63 carries and five touchdowns.
Tyler Jackson (San Diego, CA/Ramona HS) has added two scores. Through the air Glasmann has completed 76-of-129 for 1,087 yards and 10 touchdowns, well on his way to breaking the RMAC career records for yards and touchdowns. His main targets have been Ayers who has 21 catches for 334 yards. Rodgers has 17 catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.
Larry Young II (San Diego, CA/Morse HS) has brought in 13 passes for 251 yards and five scores.
Evan Beebe (Chula Vista, CA/Mater Dei Catholic) (2),
Michael Ball (Rowland Heights, CA/Rowland) (1) and
Cole Coffeen (Springerville, AZ/Round Valley) (1) also have caught TD receptions.
On defense,
Don Tyler (Los Angeles, CA/Fairfax) leads the way with 20 stops, including six solo and one for loss.
Dominic Barry (Moreno Valley, CA/Vista Del Lago) has added 19 tackles, .5 for loss, along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
Alfonso Wilson (San Diego, CA/Morse) and
Johnny Delcoure (Fallbrook, CA/Fallbrook) have two sacks apiece, while Wilson has six tackles for loss.
Juwan Sumpter (Fallbrook, CA/Fallbrook HS) has an interception, along with four pass breakups and five passes defended. WNMU has recovered four fumbles with Barry,
Darius Guillory (Temecula, CA/Chaparral), Wilson and
Curtis Palacio (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey ) all falling on loose footballs this season.
WNMU leads the RMAC in several categories including third down conversion percentage (.457) (40
th nationally), fourth down conversion percentage (.750) (12

th in rush yards per carry and third in the RMAC (6.86), ninth in rushing touchdowns and first in the RMAC, 10
th in rushing yards and second in the RMAC, 11
th in rushing yards per game and second in the RMAC (144) and ninth in scoring, first in the RMAC (12). Glasmann is 11
th and second in the RMAC in completions per game (25.33), 7
th in passing touchdowns and second in the RMAC, fifth in passing yards and first in the RMAC, sixth in passing yards per game and first in the RMAC (362.3), 13

Rhakeem Holland (Los Angeles, CA) is tied for first in the nation and in the RMAC in punt return touchdowns (1) and is 13
th in punt return yards per game and second in the RMAC (18.5). Young II is fifth and first in the RMAC in receiving touchdowns. Ayers is 17
th and second in the RMAC in receiving yards, 20
th in receiving yards per game and second in the RMAC (111.3) and 22
nd in receptions per game and second in the RMAC (7.0). Wilson is 16
th in tackles for loss per game and second in the RMAC (2.0).
