SPEARFISH, S.D. – The longest trip of the season will also be the last game of the year for the Western New Mexico University football team as they make the long trek to face Black Hills State University this Saturday at noon.
The Mustangs are 3-7 on the season and 2-6 in RMAC play. WNMU has won the past two games in the series including a convincing 38-14 win at Spearfish back in 2013.
Mitch Glasmann (Temecula, CA/Chaparral) finishes his senior season completing 256-of-442 passes for 3,444 yards and 23 touchdowns as he will miss the final game of his career due to injury. He will go down as the RMAC career passing yards and touchdown passes record holder, breaking both this season. Glasmann finishes with 12,992 passing yards and 109 touchdowns in his career at WNMU. Xavier Ayers (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque) broke Ronnell Pompey's Division II school receiving yards record last week and comes in with 1,287 yards on 86 receptions and four touchdowns.
Marques Rodgers (Gardena, CA/Serra) has remained one of the top dual-threats in the country leading the team in rushing yards going for 1,133 yards on 194 carries and 10 touchdowns. When it comes to receiving he has 60 catches for 641 yards and four touchdowns.
Larry Young II (San Diego, CA/Morse HS) has caught 58 passes for 884 yards and nine touchdowns.
Michael Ball (Rowland Heights, CA/Rowland), set to start for the Mustangs at quarterback, has completed 13-of-29 for 214 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 13 passes this year for 196 yards and a touchdown.
On defense,
Darius Guillory (Temecula, CA/Chaparral) leads the team in tackles with 63, 27 coming solo, with 0.5 tackles coming for loss, a pass breakup and fumble recovery.
Dominic Barry (Moreno Valley, CA/Vista Del Lago) is right behind with 62 tackles, with three coming for loss and 25 solo stops. He also has three pass breakups, a quarterback hurry, and both a forced fumble and recovery.
Alfonso Wilson (San Diego, CA/Morse) is third on the team in tackles with 51, with 32 coming solo. He leads the team in tackles for loss with 13, tied for the team lead in sacks with three, has a team-high two interceptions, two passes defended, a forced fumble and a pair of fumble recoveries.
Juwan Sumpter (Fallbrook, CA/Fallbrook HS) is tied with Wilson in tackles with 51, as he has a team-high 36 solo stops. He continues to lead the RMAC in passes defended with 17, he also has a forced fumble and recovery.
Aaron Leauma (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) is tied with Wilson for the team sack lead with three.
Nationally, the Mustangs continue to rank high in several categories. Glasmann is second in both passing yards and passing yards per game (344.4). He is 24

BHSU is 0-10 overall this season and 0-8 in RMAC play, but have come close the past few weeks. They held a lead late against Chadron State before falling, 39-38. Then this past week against New Mexico Highlands, they held an early lead before the Cowboys came back for the 40-31 victory.
Freshman quarterback Ryan Hommel has seen a majority of the action behind center for the Yellow Jackets. He has completed 195-of-378 for 2,344 yards and 11 touchdowns. His top targets have been Jerome Krysl with 34 catches for 417 yards and Bradley Adamson with 33 catches for 389 yards and two scores. On the ground, Phydell Paris has rushed 216 times for 920 yards and 10 touchdowns. On defense, Cody Okray leads the team in tackles with 84, including five tackles for loss.
