Pueblo, CO. – The Western New Mexico University men's golf team finished up the final round of the Sam Proal Invite in Pueblo, Colorado and ended in 13th of 18 teams. The Mustangs had a final round of 295 (+11) for a three round total of 298-293-295 (+34) at Pueblo Country Club.
Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) and
Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) both led the way for the Mustangs with a 54-hole total of (+4). Alcorta would have rounds of 71-75-71 with 9 total birdies and Schmitz would card rounds of 74-72-71 with 10 birdies, placing them in a tie for 22nd.
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) was next for the Mustangs with a final round of 77 (+6) for a +12 total to finish in a tie for 54th.
Jack Wadsworth (Plain City, UT/Fremont HS) ended with a final round 78 to go along with his opening rounds of 84-70 (+19 total) and finish in 83rd. Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs,
Elijah Salazar (Santa Fe, NM/Saint Michael's HS) would finish at a +21 total in a tie for 85th with rounds of 81-77-76 for the week.
Next up, The Mustangs will head to Goodyear, Arizona for the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, April 6-7th at Palm Valley Golf Club.
