Wichita Falls, TX. – The Western New Mexico University men's golf team finished up the opening day of the Midwestern State Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas and ended in 17th of 18 teams. The Mustangs had an opening two rounds of 304-298 (+34) to begin the 54 hole event at Wichita Falls Country Club.
Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) led the way for the Mustangs with an opening round of 75 (+4) and a second round of 73 (+2) that included 5 birdies and is currently in a tie for 39th.
Jonty Butcher (Barnsley, GB/Penistone Grammar School) was next for the Mustangs with two rounds of 75 for a (+8) total which has him in a tie for 49th.
Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) finished up the opening two rounds with a 79 in round one and a 74 in round two for a (+11) total to finish the day in T71st.
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) would also finish with a two round total of +11 with rounds of 77 and 76 and is in T71st. Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs,
Jack Wadsworth (Plain City, UT/Fremont HS) finished the day with rounds of 77 and 81 to finish at (+16), ending the day in T95th.
The Mustangs will begin the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational, tomorrow, March 23rd at 08:30AM at Wichita Falls Country Club.
