Men's Golf in 16th after Day One in Oklahoma

Edmond, OK. – The Western New Mexico University men's golf team finished up the opening round of the Oak Tree Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma and ended in 16th of 18 teams. The Mustangs had an opening round of 315 (+35) to begin the 36 hole 2-day event at Oak Tree Country Club.

Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) led the way for the Mustangs with an opening round of 75 (+5) that included 3 birdies and is currently in a tie for 22nd. Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) was next for the Mustangs with an opening round 78 (+8) which put him in a tie for 61st. Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) finished up the opening round with a 79 (+9) to finish the day in T70th.

Jack Wadsworth (Plain City, UT/Fremont HS) would finish with an opening round 83 (+13) in round 1 to finish the day in T88th. Rounding out the lineup for the Mustangs, Elijah Salazar (Santa Fe, NM/Saint Michael's HS) finished with a round of 87 (+17), ending the day in T99th.

The Mustangs will begin the final round of the Oak Tree Invitational, tomorrow, March 17th at 09:00AM at Oak Tree Country Club.
