San Antonio, TX. – The Western New Mexico University men's golf team finished up the first day of the Rattler Invitational at Dominion Country Club and ended in 14th of 16 teams. The Mustangs had a two round total of 306-306 (+36) for day one in San Antonio.
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) leads the way for the Mustangs through two rounds, finishing with rounds of 73-77 for a +6 total and is in a tie for 36th. Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) was next for the Mustangs and would have rounds of 77-74 (+7) and sits in T41 at the end of day one. Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) followed behind and ended the day with an improved 74 to go along with his first round of 81 for a +11 total which put him in T65.
Jack Wadsworth (Plain City, UT/Fremont HS) finished the day in a tie for 75th with a two round total of 78-81 (+15). Elijah Salazar (Santa Fe, NM/Saint Michael's HS) rounded out the lineup with a second round of 88 to go along with his opening round of 78 to finish the day with a +22 total and in 86th individually. As an individual, Jonty Butcher (Barnsley, GB/Penistone Grammar School) had a two round total of 85-77 (+18) and finds himself in 81st in the individual leaderboard at the end of day one.
The Mustangs will look to move up the leaderboard tomorrow, February 17th, as they tee off at 08:00 am for the final round of the Rattler Invitational at Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
