Tulum, Mex. — The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf team finished up the final round of the DII Shootout in Tulum, Mexico and ended in a tie for 12th. They had a final round team score in Tulum of 307 for a three round total of 941 (+77).
The Mustangs were once again led by
Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS), who posted a final round 78 for a total of 74-77-78 (+13) and finished the event in tied 18th.
Jonty Butcher (Barnsley, GB/Penistone Grammar School) followed behind with his best round of the tournament at 74 to finish with a total of 82-78-74 (+18) in T35.
Tyler Jackson (Deming, NM/Deming HS) was next for the Mustangs with a 77 in the final round for a 81-78-77 (+20) total and a T42 finish.
Oscar Feschuk (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Michael's College School) and
Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) rounded out the team's efforts on the day with scores of 78 and 82, respectively, positioning them at T55 (+26 total) and 63rd (+36 total) after the final round.
The Mustangs will look to improve on a tough week as they prepare for the National Fall Preview hosted by the University of Missouri - St Louis in Boulder City, NV, October 6th.
