Tulum, Mex. — The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf team finished up the second round of the DII Shootout in Tulum, Mexico and are currently in 12th. They had a second round team score in Tulum of 316 for a two round total of 634 (+58).
The Mustangs were once again led by
Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS), who posted a solid second round 77 to go with his 74 yesterday and is currently in a tie for 15th.
Tyler Jackson (Deming, NM/Deming HS) and
Jonty Butcher (Barnsley, GB/Penistone Grammar School) followed behind, both recording rounds of 78 today with Jackson in T51 at +15 total and Butcher in 56th after two rounds.
Oscar Feschuk (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Michael's College School) and
Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) rounded out the team's efforts with scores of 83 and 84, respectively, positioning them at T63 (+20 total) and 71st (+26 total) after the opening two rounds.
The Mustangs will look to make a move up the leaderboard with round 3 beginning tomorrow, September 30th at 06:45AM MT.
