SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University Women's Cross Country team has been picked 12th in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, the league office announced this morning. The rankings were determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches, sports information directors, and select media members.
West Texas A&M claimed the top spot in the poll with 510 points, narrowly edging Dallas Baptist University for preseason No. 1 honors.
For WNMU, the runners to watch are seniors
Aubrey Lozoya (Albuquerque, NM/Cottonwood Classic Preparatory) and
Vanessa Dominguez (Pecos, NM/Pecos High School).
The Mustangs will open their 2025 campaign on
Sept. 6 at the
UCCS Rust Buster in Colorado Springs.
