ROCKWALL, Texas – The Western New Mexico University men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championship, hosted at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas. After the first 36 holes of the three-day event, the Mustangs sit in ninth place after posting team scores of 310 (+22) in Round One and 302 (+14) in Round Two, for a combined total of 612 (+36).

Freshman Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) Jr. led the team in the opening round, carding a 3-over-par 75, including birdies on 15, 16, and 18 for a 35 on the back nine. He was followed closely by Oscar Feschuk (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Michael's College School) and Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS), who each recorded rounds of 78 (+6). Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS)contributed a 79 (+7), while senior Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keynes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS), recently named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team, finished with an 80 (+8).
 
In Round Two, Feschuk paced the Mustangs with a 1-over 73, highlighted by a back-nine score of 33 and birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18. Ribeiro improved by three strokes from his opening round, carding a 75 (+3). Alcorta and Schmitz both turned in 77s (+5), while Arkanath matched his first-round performance with another 80 (+8).
 
Heading into the final round, Feschuk leads all WNMU golfers in the individual standings, currently tied for 25th place at 151 (+7). Alcorta follows closely at 152 (+8), tied for 29th. Ribeiro is tied for 34th with a score of 153 (+9). Schmitz and Arkanath round out the Mustang lineup with totals of 156 (+12) and 160 (+16), respectively.
 
The Mustangs return to the links at 7:30 a.m on Tuesday, April 16, for the third and final round of the championship, looking to finish strong and climb the leaderboard.
