EDMOND, OKLA. - The Western New Mexico University men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds at Oak Tree Country Club - East in Edmond, Oklahoma, sitting in 13th place with a team score of +61 (+36 in Round 1, +25 in Round 2). The Mustangs showed improvement in the second round and will look to keep that momentum going into the final day.
Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS) had the biggest turnaround of the day, bouncing back from a tough +15 (85) in Round 1 to fire an even-par 70 in Round 2—the team's best round so far.
Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keynes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) got off to a strong start with a +2 (72) in the opening round before shooting a +8 (78) in Round 2.
Oscar Feschuk (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Michael's College School) also stepped up, shaving three strokes off his first-round score with a +8 (78) after an +11 (81) start.
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) made steady progress as well, improving from a +14 (84) in Round 1 to a +9 (79) in the second round.
Jacob Alcorta (Silver City/Silver HS) Jr. started solid with a +9 (79) but ran into some trouble in Round 2, finishing with a +14 (84).
With one round remaining on Wednesday, the Mustangs will aim to build on their momentum and climb the leader board when tee times begin at 9:00 AM MST.
