SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The Western New Mexico Women's Golf Team kicked off their spring season on Monday at the Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, from the Dominion Country Club. The Mustangs posted scores of 313 and 320, bringing their two-round total to 633 (+57) after a 36-hole marathon on Day one.
Round 1
In the first round, Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS) led the team with a score of 79 (+7), showing solid consistency on both the front and back nines. Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) faced some challenges, finishing with a score of 83 (+11), but stayed focused despite the tough conditions. Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) finished with a score of 80 (+8), displaying steady play throughout the round. Corynn Speer (Alamogordo, NM/Alamogordo, HS) had an impressive performance, carding an even-par 72, which included a remarkable -4 on the front nine. Kelly Peden (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) posted a score of 82 (+10), maintaining a steady game despite navigating several challenges.
Round 2
In Round 2, Klemke improved with a score of 78 (+6). Harper bounced back, posting a score of 80 (+8). Lackey made a slight improvement as well, finishing with a score of 79 (+7). Speer finished with a score of 84 (+12), while Peden shot a score of 83 (+11).
The Mustangs will finish up Round 3 on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, with a scheduled start time of 7:15 a.m. MST.
