2/17/2025 9:19:00 PM

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Day one of the Rattler Invitational was suspended due to darkness, leaving Western New Mexico with two and three holes remaining in round two. The Mustangs currently sit T-12 at +29, showing steady improvement after an up-and-down opening round. With the final holes of round two set to be completed before the third and final round, Western New Mexico has an opportunity to gain ground on the leader board.

Round 1:

The Mustangs started the tournament with a team score of 306 (+11). Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keynes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) led the way, carding a 74 (+2). He got off to a hot start with a 3-under 33 on the front nine before running into some trouble on the back, finishing with a 41 (+5). Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS) (75, +3) battled back with a strong 1-under 35 on the back nine, while Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) (77, +5), Oscar Feschuk (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/St. Michael's College School) (80, +8), and Jayden Schmitz (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge HS) (81, +9) rounded out the team score. Despite some struggles, the Mustangs kept themselves in the mix, entering round two with a chance to improve their positioning.

Round 2:

The Mustangs responded well in round two, posting improved scores across the lineup before play was halted due to darkness. Arkanath is currently sitting at 67 (+2), rebounding from his first-round struggles with a more consistent performance. Ribeiro (65, +2) and Kaesebier (61, +1) have also stepped up, showing more control over their games. Feschuk (72, +8) and Schmitz (65, +6) are looking to close out strong when play resumes.

Round two is set to resume Tuesday February 18, 2025, at 7 a.m. MT/8 a.m. CT, with another frost warning predicted, which would postpone the start times.
