Las Cruces, NM - The Mustangs tennis team concluded their Aggie Invite with a strong campaign and with another round of competitive matches.

This weekend was highlighted by victories from Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Les Complutense Alcala de Henares) and Eva Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) in singles play. In singles action, Lucia Carmena (Alcala de Henares, Spain/Les Complutense Alcala de Henares) delivered a confident straight-sets win, defeating her opponent 6–3, 6–3. Eva Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) also secured a thrilling three-set victory after a close opening set, winning 7–6(1), 4–6, 6–1. Both players displayed consistency and mental toughness, closing out their matches with strong finishes.

Josefina Bailetti (Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Nuestra Señora del Huerto) and Xaviera Melgar (Tacna, Peru/Alexander Von Humboldt School) fought hard but came up short in their matches. Bailetti fell 3–6, 1–6, while Melgar battled through long rallies before dropping her match 2–6, 1–6.

This concludes the Aggies Invite for the Mustangs. The Mustangs will be visiting New Mexico State again next January.
