Mustangs Sit In 2nd Place After Day One

GOODYEAR, Ari. – The Western New Mexico University Women's golf team took part in the RJGA Palm Valley Classic on Friday morning at Palm Valley GC in Goodyear, Ari. The Mustangs currently sit in second place at (+1), 289.

Three Mustangs sit atop the top 10. Alexandria Klemke (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills HS), Brooklynn Maes (Las Cruces, NM/Centennial HS) and Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) are all T-7th at E, 72. Klemke made six birdies, Maes had two and Powell contributed four.

T-13th at (+1) in Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) with a 73. Harper has four birdies. Freshman Falyn Lackey (Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) rounds things out, T-47th at (+5), 77. Lackey holed in one birdies.

West Texas A&M hold first place at (-10). The Mustangs hold second and Oklahoma Christian rounds out the top three at (+2).

The top three spots are all held by West Texas A&M girls, Anna Nomrowski (-6), Sarah Reed (-5) and Rylie Cook (-4).

Results:

The Mustangs will play round two tomorrow.
