ALAMEDA, Cali. - The Western New Mexico University Golf Team came out on fire for the first two rounds of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay. The Mustangs currently sit in 1st place at (-22), 282-272-554.
T-2nd is
Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary HS) at (-7) 68-69-137. Niles had an impressive 11 birdies on day one. T-7th is fellow Mustangs
Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) and
Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS). Geary went 71-67-138 with 11 birdies and an eagle, while Arknanth's card read 72-66-137, recording 10 birdies and a hole-in-one.Â
Freshman
Max Kaesebier (Bad Langensalza, Germany/Pierre-de-Coubertin Gymnasium) is T-14th at (-3), 71-70-141. Kaesebier was good for seven birdies and two eagles. Tomas Ribero rounds out the Mustangs, T-64th at (+9), 74-79-153. Ribero scored three birdies and an eagle.
Behind the Mustangs is Sonoma State at (-9) and CSU-East Bay at (-8).
Tyler Ahsman of Chico State holds first at (-8). Three other players are tied with Niles at (-7).
