PUEBLO, Colo. - The Western New Mexico University Men's golf team kicked off their fall 2023 season at Walkingstick Golf Club for the 2023 Sam Proal Insurance Invite. The Mustangs currently sit T-6^th at (+18) 294-300-594 after day one.
Leading the way is Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary HS) and Tomas Ribeiro (Porto Seguro, BR/Evolução Centro HS), T-14^th at (+2), 146. Niles shot a pair of 73s, while Ribeiro managed a 71 & 75. As for birdies, Niles managed eight and Ribeiro had six.
T-19^th is Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) at (+4) with a 72-76-148. Geary recorded five birdies.
Kyle Mahan (San Antonio, TX/Lady Bird Johnson HS) is T-41^st in his collegiate debut at (+10), 78-76-154. Mahan has eight birdies after day one.
Jack Wadsworth (Plain City, UT/Fremont HS) also made his collegiate debut for the Mustangs at (+23), 87-80-167. Wadsworth sits in 54^thwith three birdies.
CSU-Pueblo leads the tournament at (-19). Colorado School of Mines sits in second at (-3) and Fort Lewis is in third at (+9).
Archie Wyatt and Colt Tenpenny of CSU-Pueblo sit in 1^st at (-8). Rounding out the top three is Max Lange of Colorado School of Mines at (-4).
The tournament resumes tomorrow at 8:00 AM MT.
