NORMAN, Okla. – Sacred Heart (NCAA Division I), Florida Southern (NCAA Division II), Kentucky State (HBCU), Carleton (NCAA Division III), South Carolina Beaufort (NAIA), Andrew (NJCAA Division I), and South Mountain (NJCAA Division II) were all named 2022-23 Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions, announced Thursday by the GCAA.
Western New Mexico was honored with a President's Special Recognition, meaning they earned at least a 3.5 GPA as a team. Their overall GPA was a 3.52. The Mustangs were 1-of-20 Division II teams to receive this honor.
Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS),
Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS),
Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary HS) and
Adam Samnegard (Norrkoping, SWE/Hagagymnasiet HS/Garden City CC) would all manage a 4.0 GPA.
266 schools across six divisions earned a GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award.
