Lubbock, TX- Yesterday, the Mustangs kicked off Day 1 of the Lone Star Conference Championships in Lubbock, TX hosted by Lubbock Christian University.
The first mustang athlete to compete this weekend was none other than Gracey Lovato (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) who had qualified in the 1500m. She placed 14th overall with a time of 5:02.51s.

Her performance was followed by the men last night with the 10,000m race. The Mustangs had three individuals qualify for this event. They were led by Joshua Lara (Albuquerque, NM/Atrisco Heritage Academy HS), who had a spectacular finish with a time of 33:24.90s. He placed 8th in the field and tacked on the first point for the Mustangs this weekend. Right behind him was Cody Hepker (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia HS), who came across the line at 33:33.13s to finish 11th overall. Aaron Perez (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) had a time of 34:29.64s to place 19th in this race.

This race concluded day 1 for both Mustang teams as they look to continue today at 10 AM, starting with Men's Discus.
