Track Releases 2023 Schedule

SILVER CITY, N.M.- Western New Mexico University's Track & Field Coach Macario Campos has announced the upcoming schedules for both the Men's and Women's track & field teams.

"2023 beings a new era for Mustang Track & Field," said Head Coach Macario Campos. "I'm really excited and ready to get training underway. The team is excited and looking forward to this new era."

The teams will compete in five events for the 2023 season before heading to the Lone Star Conference Championships.

The teams will kick off the season with the Distance in the Dark Invite on March 17th at 8:00 PM MT in Mesa, Ariz. The invite will last until March 18th. From there the teams will travel to the Willie Williams Invite on March 24th at 5:00 PM MT and March 25th at 8:00 AM MT in Tucson, Ariz. From there the team will travel all to the Trinton Invite on April 8th in San Diego, Calif.

"We will mainly have runners in 800-10,000 meter events, but we have a couple running sprints, hurdles and throwing the javelin.

The next meet will be back in Mesa, Ariz. for the Mesa Classic at 5:00 PM MT on April 21st. Following the Mesa Classic, the Mustangs will compete in the Steve Scott Invite on April 28th at 8:00 PM MT in Irvine, Calif.

On May 4th the Mustangs will take their talents to the LSC Championships, that will run until May 6th.

"I want to thank AD Scott Noble for his continued support for athletics and being instrumental in bringing back track to WNMU," said Campos.
