Golf Releases 2023 Spring Schedule

SILVER CITY, N.M.- Western New Mexico University's Head Golf Coach Kent Beatty has announced the upcoming schedules for both the Men's and Women's golf.

The Men's and Women's golf team will compete in five shootouts for the spring 2023 season before heading to the Lone Star Conference Championships.

"We are looking forward to the Spring season because of the destinations and the quality of the competitions," said Head Golf Coach Kent Beatty.

Both teams will begin their regular seasons with the RJGA Cactus Thaw in El Paso, Tex. on February 12th at the Painted Dunes Golf Course.

"Both teams will start off with the Cactus Thaw in El Paso to shake off the rust, but the second events for each team are the highlights with the ladies heading to Florida for the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland, while the men travel to Palm Springs for four days at PGA West in the DII Prestige," said Coach Beatty.

From there the men's team will participate in the DII Prestige in La Quinta, Calif. on February 27th at PGA West Mountain Golf Course, the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in Alameda, Calif. on March 13th at Corica Park Golf Course, the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. on March 31st at the Golf Club of Estrella and the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. on April 3rd at Palm Valley Golf Course to finish out the regular season.

On April 17th the Men's Golf team will travel to Thackerville, Okla. for the LSC Championships at Winstar Golf Course-Redbud. It will be there that the men will get the chance to qualify for the NCAA West/So. Central Regional Championship in Rohnert Park, Calif. on May 4th at the Foxtail Golf Course-North.

The Women's Golf team will participate in the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland, FL on Feb. 20th at Grasslands Country Club, the SMSU Spring Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz. on March 7th at Wigwam Resort-Red, the El Cheapo Classic in Pueblo, Colo. on March 19th at Walkingstick Golf Course and the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. on March 31st at Palm Valley Golf Course to finish out the regular season.

"We always look forward to the events at Palm Valley in Phoenix and we'll get a first look at Winstar in Oklahoma for the conference championship," said Beatty.

On April 24th the Women's Golf team will travel to Thackerville, Okla. for the LSC Championships at Winstar Golf Course-Redbud.
