Goodyear, AZ – The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team ended T-12th after hosting a 31 team field at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, AZ.. The Mustangs ended with 305-308-613.
Valeria Enriquez (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) played well all weekend. She currently ended T-15th at (+3), carding a 72 and 75. Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) ended the tournament T-51st at (+7), shooting a 75 and 79. Taysea Powell (Artesia, NM/Artesia HS) was one stroke behind and ended T-56th carding a 77 and 78.
Shandiin Harper (Farmington, NM/Piedra Vista HS) had a better second round with a 76. She shot an 82 in round one and concluded the tournament T-82nd. Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) ended T-111th after carding back-to-back 81s. Mia Trousdale (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) played as an individual and finished strong in round two. She shot an 87 and 80 putting her T-133rd.
Northeastern State takes the win shooting (+2) on the day and 588 on the weekend. CSU Monterey Bay ended in second at 590 and CSU East Bay finishes 3rd at 594.
Colorado Christian's Faith Kilgore moves up two spots and finishes in first, shooting (-7) carding a 69 and 68. Two were tied in 2nd. CSU East Bay's Jasmin Krishna moves up seven spots as she finishes (-1) carding a 72 and 73. West Texas's Gam Songprasert was (-1) carding a 68 and 75.
The Mustangs will play in the LSC Championship April 21-22 Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, TX.
