Albuquerque, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf team teed off their season Monday, hosting the RJGA South Central Shootout, at the UNM Championship Course. After playing two rounds, the Mustangs find themselves (+1) and in second place.

Leading the pack, Colorado State-Pueblo sits (-7). Colorado Christian is in third and five strokes behind WNMU. Texas A&M-Commerce and Midwestern State are T-4th as they are 8-over.

Two Mustangs are in the top-10 after day one. Adam Niles (Kamloops, BC/Valley View Secondary) is T-3rd at (-3) going 72-69-141. Niles is two strokes behind leaders Matt Millar from CSU-Pueblo and Adam Duncan from Colorado Christian. Joey Geary (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope HS) is T-7th (-1) carding 71-72-143.

New Mustangs Adam Samnegard and Arnav Arkanath (Milton Keyes, GB/Sir Henry Floyd HS) had great days as well. Samnegard is two strokes behind Geary (+1), finishing his rounds 72-73-145. Arkanth is (+4) carding 72-76-148.

Roman Romero (Albuquerque, NM/Manzano HS) and Aaron Perales (Deming, NM/Deming HS) both shot (+16). Romero finished his rounds 79-81-160 and Perales was 78-82-160.

The Mustangs will finish the RJGA South Central Shootout Tuesday, getting on the tee box at 8:00 AM.
