Amarillo, TX- The Lady Mustangs opened up their fall season with their first competition at the West Texas A&M Women's Fall Invite at the Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo, Texas. After two rounds of competition, the Mustangs finished 5th.

LSC foe and invitational host, West Texas A&M won the invitation with a score of 597 (301-296). Finishing in the middle of the pack, WNMU total 638 (319-319). There were 11 total teams and 54 players in the field.

Freshman Presley Jackson started her collegiate career leading the Mustangs finishing in tied in fourth (75-75). Valerie Enriquez finished round one tied in second with a 73, however round two was not in favor for the junior as she would finish tied in 10th (153).

"Both Presley and Val played very well. Val shot a magnificent 73 and is leader for the girls like Presley to fall back on" said Head Coach Kent Beatty. 

Tied in 30th, Chelsey Medina shot 81 and 80, respectively. Lexi Lucero saved her day in the second round shooting a 77, after starting off with an 87(T-36, 164). Finishing within one stroke of each other, Taysea Powell shot 165 (T-39, 83-82) and Amanda Portillo finished tied in 41st with 166 (82-84).

"With such a young group of girls, playing allows them to learn and develop" said Beatty.

The Mustangs will be back in two weeks (10/19) as they will host the RJGA/WNMU Shootout at Butterfield, in El Paso, TX.
