Hernandez Claims All-Conference Honors

Silver City, N.M. – Senior Brenda Hernandez (Toluca, Mexico/Oatay) posted a strong finish to earn her all-conference honors at the 2019 Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at the Scott Park Golf Links in Silver City, N.M.

Hernandez registered a time of 23:30.82 in the Women's 6K to finish 11^th overall, and first for the Mustang women. Teammate, Brenda Prieto (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield HS) crossed nine places after Hernandez at number 20 with a time of 24:05.75.

Close by with a 24^th place finish was Britney Lovato (Rio Rancho, NM/Cleveland High School) in a time of 24:12.47. Freshman Janai Clayton (Santa Fe, NM/St. Michaels HS), finished her first conference championship 64^th overall with a time of 25:38.93, followed by Elizabeth
Beltran (66^th, 25:40.53), Sophia Rodriguez (Tucson, AZ/Marana HS) (74^th, 25:54.23) and Kayla Noriega (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola) (125^th, 30:23.54).

The Mustang women placed seventh as a team, in the 17 team pool.

They will take the next couple of weeks on in preparation for the NCAA Division II South Central Regional in Canyon, Tex. Nov. 9.
