Albuquerque, NM -- WNMU's women's golf team shot 307, to post their lowest round of the year Tuesday to climb three spots at the Skyhawk Invitational. Led by Brenda Dominguez (El Paso, Tx/Americas HS) and Victoria Hart's (Didcot, ENG/Sixth Form HS) matching 74s, the Mustangs finished fifth in the 12-team event played over the par 72 UNM Championship Golf Course. Midwestern State won the tournament by a whopping 29 shots after rounds of 298-294 over Texas A&M International, Texas at Tyler and Colorado Christian.

While Dominguez, who finished 12th, is no stranger to scores in the low 70s, it was Hart that caught fire Tuesday to post her career low single round in her short time at Western. The long-hitting sophomore was impressive with her irons and her putter was solid, allowing her to cruise to her two-over total, moving her up to 29th place.

Julia Enriquez (El Paso, Tx/Eastwood HS) was also impressive in Albuquerque, firing rounds of 76-80 to finish T15. 

The Mustangs closing fireworks allowed them to move past Angelo State, Regis and CSU-Pueblo, who were no match for WNMU on Tuesday. Chadron State, Fort Lewis, UT-Permian Basin and Lubbock Christian also competed in the tournament. 

Other WNMU scores included, T33-Amanda Portillo (El Paso, TX/Eastwood HS) (85-79), T38-Isabelle Peralta (Aztec, NM/Aztec HS) 89-79, T-52-Lexi Lucero (Ruidoso, NM/Ruidoso HS) 93-81 and T59-Chelsea Medina (Silver City, NM/Silver HS) 88-92. Peralta and Lucero competed as individuals.

The Mustangs get just a short break as they head to Kona, Hawaii this weekend for the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo.
