Sascha Brechtel (Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany/Kurpfalz Gymnasium Mannheim ) collected All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic First-Team honors Tuesday. Redshirt sophomore
Tristan Da Lio (Casablanca/Academie des Hauts de Nimes) was named to the honor roll.
Gnilozubov, the RMAC Summit Award winner for the highest GPA in the conference in his sport, holds a 4.00 GPA and is majoring in accounting. This season he is 11-12 in singles play, going 9-6 at No. 3 and 2-6 at No. 2. In doubles with teammate Da Lio they are ranked 24
th nationally and fourth in the South Central Region. They have posted a 16-7 mark, with all of their matches coming at the top flight. He has top singles victories against Holy Names, St. Edward's and went 5-0 in RMAC action. In doubles, they have top wins against Point Loma, Holy Names, St. Mary's, Cameron, East Central, New Mexico State and went 6-0 against RMAC opponents. He is ranked 14
th in the region.
Brechtel holds a 3.66 GPA and is majoring in business management. He landed on the All-RMAC Academic honor roll last year. He battled off an early injury this spring to return to action and so far has played in five singles matches, going 2-3 with a majority of his matches coming at No. 4 (2-1). He has a 4-3 doubles record, going 2-2 with freshman
Blayze O'Keefe (Las Vegas, NV), 1-0 with junior
Jean-Laurent Pageault (Perrigny, France/Academi des Hauts de Nimes) and 1-1 with sophomore
Pablo Santibanez (Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico/CETYS Universidad). He has two wins at No. 2 and one at No. 3. He recorded singles wins against CSU-Pueblo twice. In doubles, he collected two wins over Colorado Mesa.
Da Lio holds a 3.46 GPA and is majoring in mathematics. He is tied with Gnilozubov and Santibanez for the most singles wins on the team going 11-11. He is 0-1 at No. 1, 8-5 at No. 2, 3-4 at No. 3 and 0-1 at No. 4. In doubles with teammate Gnilozubov they are ranked 24
th nationally and fourth in the South Central Region. They have posted a 16-7 mark, with all of their matches coming at the top flight. Some of his top singles wins were against Point Loma, Azusa Pacific, St. Mary's and went 5-0 in RMAC matches. In doubles, they have top wins against Point Loma, Holy Names, St. Mary's, Cameron, East Central, New Mexico State and went 6-0 against RMAC opponents. He is ranked 12
th in the region.
To qualify for First-Team All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.
The Mustangs, 15-9 overall on the season, will wait for the NCAA Championship selection show next Tuesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard Time to see if they will make the regional field. They are currently fourth.
