Men's Tennis come short at first homestand

Silver City, NM - The Mustangs completed their first homestand against the Rattlers after a tough battle.

The afternoon saw the Mustangs fight a difficult battle against the Rattlers at home, eventually falling 3-4.

The afternoon started with the Mustangs pairing up in doubles, with the duo Benjamin Vriends (Mierlo, Netherlands/Sint Joriscollege) and David Guta (Bucharest, Romania/Liceul Teoretic C.A. Rosetti (Romania)) exiting the court first after securing the first victory with 6-2. The second duo exiting the court was Jack Sempar and Yannik Rogulski (Madunice, Slovakia/Archbishop's High School of Bishop P. Jantausch), following suit and securing the third victory with 6-4. The last duo to exit the court was Christopher Lund-Kuhl (Vaerloese, Denmark/Kruses Gymnasium) and Djamel-Dine Bey (Paris, France/National Centre for Distance Education (Online)), conceding the match, 5-7.

The Mustangs then competed in singles, where Semper exited the court first, falling 3-6, 6-1. Rogulski was the second to exit the court, taking the victory with him with 6-2, 6-3. Lund-Kuhl was the third to exit the court, 4-6, 6-7(3-7). Bey concluded his game fourth, ending with a score of 4-6, 6-7(4-7). Guta was the fifth to exit the court after a hard fight, taking the match to a tiebreaker, but eventually claiming the win 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(8-6). The last Mustang to exit the court was Vriends, who fought till the end, but fell 7-6(7-5), 2-6, and 2-6.
This concluded the Mustangs' homestand against the Rattlers with a 3-4.

The Mustangs will continue their season with their second homestand against the UT Dallas Comets at the WNMU Tennis Courts on the 3rd of April.
