SILVER CITY, N.M. – There was no slowing down the Western New Mexico University tennis teams on Saturday as the men claimed a 9-0 victory, while the women added a 7-2 win against Colorado State University-Pueblo in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. With the wins, WNMU claims both regular season titles after going a perfect 5-0 in conference play and both teams will be the top seed at the conference tournament. This marks the sixth straight title for the men's team, while the women tally their second title in the last three years.
On the men's side, WNMU (11-9, 5-0 RMAC) rolled in doubles play to take the early 3-0 lead.
Juan Pablo Fuentes (Guadalajara, Mexico)/
Alvaro Nunez (Madrid, Spain) had the biggest margin of victory coming away with an 8-3 win at No. 2.
Tristan Da Lio (Casablanca/Academie des Hauts de Nimes)/
Vladimir Gnilozubov (Kazakhstan, Astana/Kazakhstan) added an 8-4 win at the top flight before
Jean-Laurent Pageault (Perrigny, France/Academi des Hauts de Nimes)/
Pablo Santibanez (Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico/CETYS Universidad) capped the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3.
In singles, five of the six were won in straight sets. Fuentes, the 10
th ranked player in the region, dropped just one game at the top flight coming away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Omar Lopez (Naucalpan, Mexico) gave up just three games in his match at No. 6 tallying a 6-2, 6-1 win. Nunez at No. 4 and Gnilozubov at No. 5 each dropped just four games in claiming their victories. Nunez posted scores of 6-1, 6-3, while Gnilozubov added a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Da Lio, the 16
th ranked player in the region, fought through a tough first set to win in a tiebreaker, 7-6, and then roll to a 6-3 second set win at No. 3. Pageault, the 11
th ranked player in the region, had to go three sets, but finished strong as he lost the opening set, 2-6, just to come back with strong 6-1, 6-1 wins at No. 2.
On the women's side, WNMU (10-11, 5-0 RMAC) took two of the three doubles matches for the early lead.

Pauline Emin (Viry, France/Lycee Arbez Carme) rolled to an 8-3 win at No. 3.

Ashley Newell (Las Vegas, NV/Silverado) teamed up to take the No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Ganna Tiurina (Kiev, Ukraine/M.M. Gromov #227)/
Annica Betz (Celle, Germany/Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria Gymnasium) came close at the top flight before a 6-8 setback.
In singles, WNMU collected four of the victories in straight sets. Tiurina had no trouble at the top flight taking a 6-0, 6-0 win. Osuna dropped just two games in her first set before claiming the 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4.
Ashley Newell (Las Vegas, NV/Silverado) added a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3. Emin pulled away in each of her sets for a straight set, 6-4, 6-3 win at No.5.
Tiffany Newell (Las Vegas, NV/Silverado ) fought back from dropping the first set, 5-7, to take the second, 6-3, and then the super tiebreaker, 14-12 at No. 6. Betz fell at No. 2, 1-6, 2-6.
