Metz Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American

NORMAN, Okla. – Western New Mexico University senior men's golfer David Metz (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) added another academic honor to his 2012-13 campaign as he was named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar list for Division II as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.


To be eligible for the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.


In 35 total rounds played, Metz tallied a 75.23 stroke-average, posting some top results as he led the team at the RMAC #2 placing in a tie for 12th and at the Midwestern State Invitational where he grabbed a tie for ninth. He was named to the Second-Team Academic All-RMAC as he holds a 3.34 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice.
